Birthing Pool Floor for Maternity Unit, Hillingdon Hospital, Middlesex
The refurbishment of the maternity pool included tiling to make the room more inviting, and to celebrate the beginning of a new life. The images and shapes give women in labour something to focus on, to distract from pain.
The sun symbol appears as a floor motif in the entrance area as well as in the birthing room itself.
