Memorial Gardens, Crawley

mosaic bench and planter in the Memorial Gardens, Crawley
Crawley Memorial Gardens were given to the town after World War I as a gesture of peace, which is reflected in the images of doves on the bench. Crawley has always been an important transport link and there are plenty of references to this, such as the planes in the bench mosaic, the wheel shape of the large circular planter with its tire track edging, and the mosaics of 'leaves on the track' mosaic on the top.
